Meet Janice! She is our September Volunteer of the Month at the Harman Center. She has been volunteering at the center for over 2 years. She is in charge of our Dinner Club, Cribbage Group, and helps with the Hand & Foot Group.
Janice is originally from Grants Pass, OR. She moved to the Yakima Area when she remarried. She has 7 children (5 girls and 2 boys). Before she retired, she was a Respiratory Therapist. She loves canning and cooking. You could say she is a master gardener with her 45 rose bushes, gardenias, and fruit trees, she has at her home. Her husband was a Cribbage Champion and insisted that Janice learn how to play the game. She began coming to the Harman Center after he passed away in 2014.
Janice enjoys being part of our Harman Center community, she is the hostess with the mostest for Dinner Club. She has planned the Restaurants out for the rest of year, trying to incorporate a new cuisine each month. She loves to play cards and come for lunch a couple times a week at the center. Her favorite part about the Harman Center is that there is a variety of activities available and she enjoys getting aquainted with other fellow participants. After her husband passed, she said she stayed home most of the time. Then she found the Harman Center. “Now I have many friends and look forward to what’s going on,“ says Janice. She just recently went on an Alaskan Cruise, one of our Trips and Tours, and had a fabulous time.
The Harman Center is lucky to have Volunteers like Janice. Come join us sometime and meet some of our Volunteer All-Stars.
